Fabrics for Tilly

Little Matilda finally has some clothes waiting for her! In the post the other day, I found two beautiful nighties and two baby cardigans, all of which my Mum made for me when I was first born. They are so lovely, and so special.

And here's a photo of me in the same nightie, a quarter of a century earlier: (click me!)

Mum also sent some photos of fabrics she's got lined up to make into more nighties, among other things, for Tilly. I can't wait to see what becomes of them!

Luckily, we seem to have just the same taste in fabrics: bright colours and bold patterns, but also sweet girly pinks and rose prints.

What a lucky baby! I'm off to the doctor today for my check-up, so hopefully we'll see that she's still doing well.

Finished Quilt

I added the final touch: a little felt heart with Justin's initials on it. It gives the quilt a much needed touch of red, I think!

This is the patch in the center. Perfect for 2010, the year of the Tiger! I'd picked this fabric out as potential baby fabric a few months ago, but now we know she's a girl, the dark blue doesn't really appeal to me for baby things anymore. Luckily, it's Justin's favourite!

Here's the whole thing, laid out. Yes, it goes perfectly with our Ikea duvet cover!

And this is my favourite quilt, the Dog Park quilt that my Mum made for me last year. It inspired the choice of fleece for backing... so comfy, and nice and light-weight. Now, hopefully, I'll have it all to myself again!

Pom-pom Package

Every day, Bella and I walk down to the mailbox at the end of the street, and most days we come back with armloads of bills, forms, and newspapers. Today, we had all that stuff, but we also had the most exciting package in the world!
It came from Thailand, and has 29 stamps on it. Wait... 30 (I just recounted!), and they are all beautiful Thai landscpaes, waterfalls, and flowers.

And inside, was this treasure-trove! A little pipe-smoking man on a handmade notebook, a postcard-album, a copy of Sense and Sensibility on DVD, little handmade paper sunflowers, and more than a handful of pom-poms!

The postcard album is to store pretty cards, and inside was this one of a sweet little girl and her cat!

It was, of course, from my Mum, who's just been to Thailand on holiday! She always finds the brightest, happiest, most inspiring pressies for me, and I'm so grateful for that!

I hope your mail today had something lovely in it, too!

Tag!

The lovely folks over at Podgehodge tagged me for a photo post, so I counted through my folders and my tenth photo is...

It's me, years and years ago, hiking the Great Wall with my Mum (who's behind the camera!).

We'd heard about this fun 'off the beaten' track hike, which was supposed to take us to a lovely little village a few miles away. However, after a few hours, we reached a fence with a sign on it saying 'Military Training Zone: Danger!' and couldn't go any further.

Turns out, we got a bit mixed up, and started hiking where we supposed to end! It was still a lovely day out... and we really did have the trail all to ourselves!

And now I'm tagging:
and
I'd love to see your photos!

All you do is:
1. Open your first photo folder.
2. Scroll to the 10th photo.
3. Post the photo on your blog and tell the story behind it.
4. Tag people to do the same.
